It's Spring time and I am back on the lemon water again lol Do you feel me on this? I seriously go back and forth on this particular portion of my day-to-day. But while working towards achieving fat loss, I love supporting my metabolism by drinking this tonic first thing in the morning.
All you need to make this is just warm filtered water, juice of half a lemon, 1 tbsp Braggs Apple cider vinegar and a small little drizzle of local honey. Let me break this down for you-I love this for a few reasons..warm water helps aide in digestion, lemon helps to detox the liver and alkanize the body, Apple Cider Vinegar helps to support a healthy metabolism and aides in supporting a heathy gut, last but not least- the local honey helps combat seasonal allergies. It's surely a Springtime health tonic!
Breakfast
Typically I will have a coffee with a little bit unsweetened vanilla almond creamer and a scoop of Vital Proteins Collagen and have this with half a banana. This currently is my pre-workout meal for a morning workout.
Post workout I'm either having a protein smoothie, with added coconut oil or almond butter for healthy fats, along with a good serving of spinach for greens and either a tsp or two of chia or flax seed for added fiber.
If I'm feeling like cooking something, I have been loving a breakfast wrap with 1 egg, egg whites, turkey sausage, 1 tbsp shredded cheese and some spinach added in- deeelicious or protein and oat pancakes with berries!
Mid Morning Snack
Usually around 10 AM, I need a snack. I love food prepping muffins or protein balls over the weekend as a quick easy snack to bridge the gap between lunch time and keep my focus going strong! These lemon chia blueberry protein muffins definitely do the trick!
Lunch
I typically have my biggest meal of the day at lunch time. I'll either do a wrap or sandwich of some sort, pasta toss or macro bowl- like this Southwest BBQ Chicken macro bowl. I'm a sucker for BBQ sauce and this gives me a taste of what I love, while still keeping things goal friendly.
Afternoon Snack
Afternoon Snack
Usually around 3 or 4 PM every day, I'm in the mood for a snack. Nothing heavy, but something that isn't packed with sugar and paired with healthy fat to keep my blood sugar steady until I eat dinner. One of my favorite snacks as of late is bell peppers or cucumbers and Cedar's Red Pepper hummus. If I'm feeling something sweet- I'll do plain greek yogurt, some berries and a little Ceylon Cinnamon added. Berries are low glycemic and Ceylon Cinnamon helps to balance your blood sugar too!
Dinner- Cooking Is Sexy Style
My dinners lately have been 80% of the time low carb, high protein. Which falls right in line with the what I recommend in Cooking Is Sexy (coming soon!!). Bruschetta chicken paired with a side of steamed asparagus or side of mixed greens is a fave Spring or Summer time dish. Basil on anything really does make me happy haha
End Of Day Treat!
A treat to end my day- also part of the Cooking Is Sexy lifestyle. If I do my workout and eat clean throughout the day, I throw in a treat at the end of the day. This can be something like my clean eating mounds bar protein balls or one of my favorites is Vanilla Bean halo top with Zevia (0 sugar- sweetened with stevia) Root Beer float- SO good and only 100 calories!
Let me know-which of recipes I mentioned in this blog would you like me to share?
xxo,
Katie
