Spring Morning Routine

Updated: May 11, 2021

I love switching up my routine each Season. It gives me something to look forward to and helps me tap into what I want to experience in the next few months ahead.

I used to think I just had to have a solid routine and never really thought about approaching my routines based on the seasons. You can truly switch up your routing ANY time you want! Ultimately it take 21 days to develop a habit and another 21 days to make it stick. So I recommend trying your routine for at least 3 weeks and tweaking it from there.

I find having a seasonal routine helps honor the current season climate changes, focuses on the what is in season food-wise and allows space for that feeling of a fresh start- which I love!

Appreciate and have gratitude for where you are in your journey, even if it isn't exactly where you want to be. Every Season serves a purpose.

I have been LOVING the "Seeing Beautiful Again" devotional by Lysa Terkurst. Reading this each morning has helped me tap back into my faith and spirituality- something that I feel I have been needing for awhile now. It is so beautifully written, and honestly is like giving my soul a warm hug each morning. It starts my day off on a positive note and gets keeps my mindset in check.

Time Saving Tip

Save some time in your morning! It really is the small things we do consistently that add up. Having said that, I love to lay out my workout clothes the night before. This makes it super easy to just grab them and go. It's easy to do and one less thing that I need think of for the next day.

Spring Workouts

I have been drawn to dance lately, and as we get to know each other more, you'll come to know that I am not a huge fan of cardio lol ...So I have been doing dance 3 times a week for my cardio (because dance to me is fun and hardly feels like a workout!), and then adding in free weights and resistance bands 3 times a week for strength and toning- alternating with total body, legs and upper body. I try to add in 10 minutes of core work after my dance classes too- but this has been a bit hit or miss lately. I have one full rest day on Sundays, and on my rest day, I still try and move my body by doing a yoga flow to stretch or a nice walk for some fresh air.

My biggest tip with working out and how to factor that in your routine is to know the pockets of time you will get it done with ZERO excuses. For me at this point in time, that is either in the morning before I go into the office, or on my lunch break. I know that if I save it for after my 9-5 work day, I most likely won't be as motivated to do it, and come up with a ton of excuses not to. So what is the pocket(s) of time in your day that would work best for you?

Since Winter, I have really prioritized moving my body every day. Now that has turned into a habit, it has allowed me to focus much more on nutrition, which we will get to next!

Breakfast

For breakfast, I have been starting out with something light if I am working out in the morning. Usually half a banana and some collagen coffee about an hour before my workout. Then I usually have a recovery protein shake post workout with a scoop of protein, oats, almond butter, spinach and flaxseed. Other times, I love making a breakfast wrap with turkey sausage, egg whites and a little cheddar cheese or some protein/oat pancakes with berries.

Skin Care

I love switching up my skin and haircare routines each season! Another fun little tip is to get a travel size of products you like to try. If you love them, then great! Get the full size. But if you end up not being a fan of the product and it doesn't work for you, then you're not fulling committed to feeling like you have to use it..and you in turn save some money too!

Routines inevitably lead to massive glowing up! What changes are you planning to make to your Springtime routine?!

xxo,

Katie
