Consistency is KEY in routines. Finding ways to adapt seasonally is also very important, too! By doing this, it also keeps your routines fresh, and allows room to try new things too. It keeps the monotony out of the equation, and helps to keep your focus on the habits that are serving you, and ditch the ones that are not.
Welcome to the 2022 Thyme To Glow Fall Blog series!!
I have so many fun things coming your way! I'll be uploading a new post every Sunday evening, and literally can't wait for all the good stuff we are going to get into this Fall. To get more of a list of some of the topics I'll be writing about, check out last week's blog post HERE
This week we are kicking off the series with what my morning routine is looking like this Fall, and hopefully giving you some inspo on how to make some seasonal tweaks to your very own 2022 Fall routine!
Also, if you all have any ideas on topics- please share in the comments!
Coffee First!
This is a perfect example of how you can keep part of your morning rituals/routines the same, but a bit different based on the season. I'm not really a morning person until I have my coffee at least haha so for Fall I like to make collagen coffee and will brew a Dunkin Donuts original Keurig (10 oz). Then I add a scoop of Vital proteins collagen peptides and a shake of pumpkin pie spice. Next I add some creamer (I like the Nut Pods brand because it doesn't have any added junk or sugar in it) and have been loving the flavor Cinnamon Swirl! Cinnamon also has some fantastic benefits in regulating your blood sugar to prevent crazy spikes and has added metabolism benefits too!
Planning For The Day/Week
This is now where we get into what's called "habit stacking", which is when your routine is made of habits that can easily stack right on top of each other. So with my coffee brewed, I light a Fall scented candle to get the vibes right! I get my planner (which also includes my meal planner) and get in touch with what I have going on for the day and what is coming up for the week.
During this time I'll also listen to an inspiring podcast to get my mind right for the day. I usually listen to these at various points throughout the day, but find in the morning before work, I can absorb more of the content, in a more mindful way.
Breakfast
If there is anything I have learned with eating healthy, it's sticking to a routine as much as you can with your food. So things like breakfast, it would be great if you can find maybe 2-3 options that you love that you can rotate to achieve that consistency that's needed to get closer to your goals.
Things like a breakfast bowl, omelette or smoothie can be super easy to switch up the veggies or fruit, greens, healthy fat or protein that you add to them. I personally have been loving these egg white scrambles- this one has sweet potato, turkey sausage crumbles, kale, scallions, egg whites and some Follow Your Heart dairy free Parmasean cheese. I spice it up with black ground pepper, hot pepper flakes and a drizzle of organic ketchup.
Mid Morning Snack
Usually around 10:30, I will have a mid morning snack, and it's either usually a protein shake or a few mini protein muffins. I find these protein muffins are super easy to meal prep and you can freeze them. So it can be something that even if you have just a few times a week, a batch will last for awhile that way. This is my pre workout snack, as I typically workout at lunch, unless I have a meeting. I've tried workout out in the morning, but after many attempts I just don't like it as much as a mid-day workout!
At the end of the day, please do what works best for YOU and your lifestyle! We don't all have to fit the same mould. If you like working out in the morning - do it! If you intermittent fast and don't eat your first meal until the afternoon, and that works well for you, do it! Success over time leaves clues, follow what works best for you and keep an open mind and heart to evolving along the way.
Routines are essential to a healthy, happier lifestyle, and tweaking them seasonally allows us to be open to change and the beauty it can bring!
Here's to a wonderful new Fall season babes!
Until next time. Xxo,
Katie
