2021 Summer Glow Up- Week 9

August is here! Which means it's a great time of year to do a check-in on how your progressing with your goals. I love doing this before I head into a new season..aka my fave season- Fall!

So before we get into this week's blog topic (which is- DIY Home Spa Day) Get your journal out and take some time to do a check-in -- ask yourself:

  • What are the systems of habits I have formed to help me achieve or get closer to attaining a goal?

  • What areas am I completely slaying the game?

  • What areas need some more focus?

Read over what you wrote out for each of these questions, and devise a plan on how to move forward. Take into account the areas you're totally crushing it, and what areas need some more work. Do this without judgement and an open mind. There is no "starting" over- only moving forward with a new and improved plan to keep you glowing up, my beautiful friend!

Alright. So I think we need some pampering- yes!? Yes.

The at-home spa day has been something I have loved to do- especially since after Covid hit. It's become a ritual for me and although self love is SO much more than face masks and bath bombs- it doesn't hurt to have time out to center yourself and nourish your skin.

First up-let's start with Spa Beauty Water! Here are a few flavor combination suggestions you can make for your spa day:

  • Cucumber, lemon and mint

  • Watermelon, mint and basil

  • Strawberry, Orange and basil

  • Pineapple and mint

  • Blackberry, lemon and mint

  • Raspberry, lime and basil

Make it aesthetic: Get a pitcher, fill with some ice and your fave combination of fruit and herbs and serve in mason jar glasses or wine glasses. Make hydration a focus today, and sip on this Spa beauty water throughout the day!

Next - DIY Glow Up Face Mask Recipe

To make: Mix 1 tbsp raw local honey with 2 tbsp aloe vera and apply to face and let set for about 10-15 minutes and then remove with a damp warm towel.

The honey has anti-inflammatory properties in it and the aloe helps to soothe and hydrate your skin. Combining the two ingredients together make them a powerful duo in achieving that healthy glow!

After your spa treatment, finish out the day with a healthy, plant based lunch full of ingredients that will help your skin glow!

To make: 3/4 cup cooked quinoa, sliced purple cabbage, 1/2 red bell pepper- cut into thin slices, 2 tbsp shredded carrots, 1 diced scallion, fresh cilantro, sprinkle of micro greens, bibb lettuce or collard green wraps, 2 tbsp chopped cashews

Spicy Peanut Dressing: 1 tsp local honey, 1 tbsp creamy nut butter, 1 tsp Sriracha, 1 tbsp coconut aminos, 2 tsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1/8 tsp each garlic and ginger powder

These wraps are full of clean ingredients, delicious, and the spicy peanut dressing really just makes this next level!!

Until next time!

xx,

Katie
